    This book reports on the latest research and developments in the field of human factors in cybersecurity. It analyzes how the human vulnerabilities can be . Historically, HRD has referred to developing human resources in order to increase economic productivity and therefore a nation’s wealth, that is, very closely linked with economic outputs. However, within current definitions and discussions, especially in the context of developing countries, there is more emphasis on the human aspects of HRD.

    However, doctrinally and conceptually, the U.S. military does not consider the human aspects of conflict to be a domain of its own, nor does it relate it to the other domains or environmental constructs. If a Human Domain were established in doctrine, it could be operationalized as depicted in Figure 1 as a foundation for the other domains. Human behavior, the potential and expressed capacity for physical, mental, and social activity throughout human life. Humans, like other animal species, have a typical life course that consists of successive phases of growth, each characterized by a distinct set of physical, physiological, and behavioral features.

    The field of human factors has its roots firmly planted in aviation. The first identifiable work in the area of equipment design and human performance was done during World War II.2 This work was concerned primarily with eliminating certain accidents related to cockpit design and aircrew.
